Chairman's River Restoration Program

Two volunteers at the last river clean-up.
In 2002, Board of Commissioners Chairman Vincent Mesolella established the Narragansett Bay Commission Woonasquatucket River Initiative. This initiative is to encourage active community involvement in reclaiming the Woonasquatucket River as a valuable resource.
Every year NBC staff are joined by volunteers from various state agencies and departments, several local businesses, and members of the public, in cleaning up the banks and shallow waters of the river.
To find out when the next river clean-up is scheduled, please feel free to contact the Public Affairs Office.
