Safety

NBC’s Safety Compliance Coordinator conducts an inspection of a Dry Chemical Class Portable Fire Extinguisher in an NBC building.

The Narragansett Bay Commission’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Program provides training and safety information to all its employees on a regular basis, in order to maximize protection against potential hazards within the workplace environment and at home.

All safety training is conducted in accordance with applicable OSHA Regulations (29 CFR 1910). Employees are continually offered initial and refresher training in such areas as Permit - required Confined Space Entry, Occupational Noise Exposure, Infectious Material Exposure Control, Fire Extinguisher, Hazard Communication, and the Control of Hazardous Energy (LO/TO) procedures. NBC has on staff a Red Cross Certified CPR/AED and First Aid trainer and has an AED located at each of its facilities.

NBC has developed and maintains site specific Emergency Preparedness Plans, a comprehensive Emergency Evacuation Plan and an assortment of safety oriented Standard Operating Procedures, policy documents and fact sheets readily available to all employees. Training courses ensure the safety of all employees through hands-on demonstration, walkthroughs of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and video presentations.
