Perform microscopic examinations of wastewater and/or waters for the detection of indicator organisms using current EPA and other wastewater protocol. Perform testing and sample preparation activities for Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), fecal coliform analysis, nutrient analysis, and other biological analyses. Perform sterility testing of laboratory de-ionized water systems. Ensure that equipment operates in accordance with approved NBC procedures and specifications. Conduct QA/QC procedures for all biological analyses done. Review and maintain an accurate, timely record database of all biological tests and activities. Provide prompt and accurate reports and summaries that detail microscopic evaluations and interpretations. Do related work as required.


Education: Graduation from a college of recognized standing with a bachelor’s degree in one of the biological sciences. Experience: Three or more years in a laboratory involved in biological study. Requires a working knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of field and laboratory biological research, the ability to make field studies concerning the investigation, management, and conservation of the resources in one of the specializations indicated in the title, the ability to conduct statistical analyses of the research data compiled and to develop new techniques and methods for obtaining data for use in program management, a working knowledge of the organization and functions of a wastewater facility and management programs, the ability to prepare and present accurate and concise written and oral reports of research findings, observations and work performed, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other government officials and the general public.
