This position is accountable to the Construction Manager (CM). Responsibilities include coordinating with the Construction Contractor, inspection of the construction, maintaining construction records and reports, reporting defective work or potential claims by the contractor for additional time or money to the CM and supervising field staff that are assigned to the project. Performs day-to-day construction inspections. Identifies defective work and has it corrected by the Contractor. Checks and ensure materials beings incorporated into the work are in accordance with approved shop drawings. Anticipates potential claims by the Contractor for changes in scope, or claims for additional money or time. Reports all occurrences to the CM. Maintains records including daily reports, diary, test reports and miscellaneous construction reports. Supervises NBC field staff assigned to the project. Within skill & experience capabilities, perform other duties and projects as assigned.


Education: An Associate Degree in Engineering is preferred. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in construction inspection is preferred. A thorough knowledge of civil and a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical construction. Ability to readily read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Problem solving and organizational skills; frequent use of judgment and a high degree of integrity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a contractor. Special Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Physical Demands: Requires maneuvering through construction sites including frequent climbing on ladders and scaffolding.
