Junior/Senior High
Rhode Island State Science Fair
Each year, the Narragansett Bay Commission conducts a special judging at the RI State Science Fair, and honors students whose clean water projects show excellence in scientific inquiry. Winners receive U.S. Savings Bonds, and receive a special recognition at an NBC Board of Commissioners meeting.
Facility Tours & Career Days
Take a tour of one of the country's best-operated and maintained wastewater treatment facilities, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. The Field's Point facility, in Providence, is one of the country's oldest and the state's largest wastewater treatment facility. Or visit the state's second largest facility in East Providence, the Bucklin Point Wastewater Treatment Facility. At both facilities students will learn how their community's wastewater is processed, cleaned and returned to Narragansett Bay. There students will understand how wastewater treatment is a vital link in the overall water quality chain that we depend on.
