NBC's Davies Receives Peloquin Award
Edward Davies of North Kingstown has received the Alfred E. Peloquin Award from the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA). The Peloquin Award recognizes an individual whose personal service has made a significant contribution to clean water and has contributed to excellence in wastewater treatment facility operations either directly at a treatment plant, or indirectly through assistance to plant operations personnel.
Davies joined the Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC) in 2010 and currently serves as Lab Sample Compliance Coordinator for the NBC’s 100,000+ annual water samples. The NBC is the Rhode Island’s largest wastewater authority, providing conveyance and treatment of over 32 billion gallons of wastewater for 350,000 residents.
Davies is also a member of the Ocean State’s Wastewater Operators Challenge Team, and in 2017 led the team to the national finals of the Operators Challenge in New Orleans.
Raymond J. Marshall, Executive Director of the NBC, praised Davies’s commitment to clean water and a healthy environment. “Ed always seeks excellence and Narragansett Bay is cleaner as a result of his efforts,” Marshall said. “He exemplifies the word ‘environmentalist.’”
